Tofana di Rozes, limited edition 1/5

At first glance, the Tofana di Rozes is not really a beauty, in fact, the mountain is quite rough and has a crooked back, the Quasimodo under the Dolomite peaks. He is also difficult to photograph. From the front it is as skewed as a hoop and from this side it can only be captured well in the evening. 

Yet I think the Tofana is a beautiful thing and that is mainly due to the layering in the wall. In Tofana you see the wrinkles of time. A mountain with character and the longer you look at it, the more beautiful it becomes. A photo of Tofana should not be a short-lived still moment, but a movement in which life passes this colossus.

Op het eerste gezicht is de Tofana di Rozes niet echt een schoonheid, sterker nog, de berg is vrij lomp en heeft een kromme rug, de Quasimodo onder de Dolomieten toppen. Hij laat zich ook nog lastig fotograferen. Van voren is hij zo scheef als een hoepel en van deze kant is ie eigenlijk alleen in de avond goed vast te leggen. 

Toch vind ik de Tofana een schitterend ding en dat komt vooral door de gelaagdheid in de wand. In Tofana zie je de rimpels van de tijd. Een berg met karakter en hoe langer je ernaar kijkt, hoe mooier hij wordt. Een foto van Tofana zou dan ook geen kortstondig stilstaand moment moeten zijn, maar een beweging waarin het leven aan deze kolos voorbij trekt.
