Beatniks

Out of a smoky café, the guests emerge; the viewer is right in the middle of the action. There is lively chatter, laughter, and drinking. Amidst the noise, one lonely figure looks back - not participating in a conversation in the laughter-filled room, but looking directly at us.

Uit een rokerig cafe doemen de gasten op; de toeschouwer zit middenin de actie. Er wordt druk gekletst, gelachen en gedronken. Tussen het rumoer kijkt er één eenzaam figuur terug - hij neemt niet deel aan een gesprek in de gelachkamer maar kijkt ons recht aan.
