Ricardo van der Meide grew up in Rotterdam and now works from Drachten in Friesland, where he paints in his spare time alongside his career as a maintenance painter. He stretches his own canvases and works with professional-grade oils, building dreamlike scenes that blend landscape, architecture, and nature. His compositions often feature solitary buildings, water, and sky rendered in warm tones, creating a melancholy atmosphere that feels both real and imagined. Van der Meide studied graphic design and has developed a distinctive visual language across his work in oils and watercolors, where churches, towers, and natural elements appear as if glimpsed through memory or dream.
