Peter van der Linden

27 August 2026

Peter van der Linden, based in Lelystad, works with acrylic paint on crystal-clear foil in a process that demands precision and patience. Because he applies paint to the back of the foil, he must think in reverse—painting backwards and in reverse order. Once complete, the foil becomes both the carrier and a natural varnish, then gets sealed to plywood using epoxy resin and methylcellulose. His method combines traditional brushwork and airbrushing with techniques inspired by nature itself: droplets of paint blown across the surface create organic forms like branches and grass, their trails naturally thinning as gravity takes hold. The result is work with depth and luminosity that draws from landscapes, architecture, and places close to home.
