Montagne: Where Engineering Meets Art
Montagne is the collaborative practice of Hans and Deborah van Rens-Berg, who live in the Netherlands. Hans trained in mechanical engineering and spent years restoring paintings and frames before turning to oil painting in his twenties. Now with more time for his practice, he creates intricate geometric and minimalist works that reflect his background in precision and restoration. Deborah studied classical guitar at the Conservatory in Maastricht and brings her deep connection to music into their shared artistic vision. Together, they explore themes of pattern, symmetry, and structure, naming their pieces after classical musical forms and compositions. Their work speaks to a sensibility that finds beauty in careful composition and repetition.
