Frank Selen: Painting the Unseen
Frank Selen from Tegelen works in the space between knowing and not knowing. Rather than capturing the visible world, he creates paintings that emerge through improvisation—guided by his brush, gravity, music, and the scent of burning incense. Each work becomes a landscape that never existed in reality, yet somehow feels familiar, as though we've wandered through it in dreams. His paintings draw from elemental forces: water, sky, light, decay, and void. The process itself matters more than control; Selen embraces uncertainty, letting each piece unfold toward its own truth. The result is work that invites us into atmospheric, dynamic spaces where abstract forms and shifting colors resonate with something deeper than what we can see.
