Baba Yaga

The painting depicts Baba Yaga, one of the most mysterious and controversial images of Russian folklore. As a child, I was always fascinated and frightened by this character. And Russian folklore would be empty and not so interesting without her, so I tried to depict her both brightly and terribly with all her charisma from fairy tales. Her face, cut with deep wrinkles, keeps traces of centuries-old wisdom and witchcraft secrets. Her lips are stretched into a smile with a pair of sparkling teeth and seemingly blind eyes, but you understand that she sees everything and this cannot but terrify.
