Rikke Darling

Rikke Darling is a Danish visual artist based in Copenhagen, working at the intersection of biology, abstraction and nature. With a studio and gallery in the Østerbro neighbourhood of Copenhagen, she has worked as a professional artist for more than two decades.

Her art explores the invisible patterns that connect all living things — cell structures, fractal formations, branching patterns and the organic rhythms of the natural world. Working within the SciArt field, where art and science meet as a creative force, her visual language is rooted in biology and quantum physics. She is a member of the international SciArt Initiative and collaborates with doctors and biologists who provide microscopic photography as inspiration for her work.

Darling's practice spans original paintings on canvas, large-scale wall murals, hand-painted ceramic vases, ceramic wall sculptures and limited edition fine art prints. Her work has found its way into homes, hospitals and public spaces across Denmark and Europe.

Notable projects include botanical wall murals at the triple Michelin-starred Restaurant Geranium in Copenhagen, art installations at Rigshospitalet and several other Danish hospitals, a wall mural at Hotel La Fonda in Spain, and paintings for GlaxoSmithKline and BankInvest in Denmark. Her work has been featured in Scan Magazine, Kristeligt Dagblad and Femina, and she has exhibited internationally including at the New York Hall of Science in New York.

All paintings are unique originals on canvas, built up in layers of acrylic paint using fluid, organic techniques inspired by nature's own laws of movement and growth. Limited edition fine art prints are available in abstract and botanical series in sizes 50x70 cm and 70x100 cm.
