Margareth Adama's Expressive Vision

11 augustus 2026

Margareth Adama was born in Jakarta and raised in Amsterdam, a background that shaped her multifaceted approach to art. After studying at the Rietveld Academy, she pursued cultural anthropology and Southeast Asian art history, bringing these interests into her practice. Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, she exhibited at major venues including the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam and was part of the Visual Artists Regulation. She co-founded Villa Baranka, an experimental space blending different artistic disciplines. Adama's paintings are layered, gestural works that build meaning through color, texture, and form—works that feel both introspective and celebratory, grounded in a thoughtful engagement with culture and human connection.
