Karin Touw: Layers of Time

16 augustus 2026

Karin Touw draws inspiration from antiquity and the passage of time, layering oil, acrylic, graphic work, and drawing to create pieces that feel both intimate and expansive. Having trained as a teacher and studied at the Willem de Koning Academy, she brings a thoughtful approach to her mixed-media practice, often incorporating natural pigments alongside more conventional materials. Her work appears regularly in galleries across the Netherlands and beyond, including the Great Church Amsterdam and the Van Nelle factory in Rotterdam. Through combinations of abstract and lyrical gestures, Touw explores what remains when centuries pass—the traces of civilizations, the marks left on walls, the quality of light in familiar places.
