Workshops as income: teach what you love
Teaching pays sooner than selling, smooths out the quiet months, and quietly turns students into collectors.
Start with one honest afternoon
Not a curriculum: one three-hour session, six people, one clear outcome — "you go home with a small monotype you made yourself". Small and finished beats big and vague.
Price it so it is worth your day. Materials, space, your preparation and your time. Charging too little attracts people who do not turn up.
Sell the feeling, show the result
People do not book a technique, they book an afternoon out of their ordinary life. Say what they will make, what is included, what they should bring, and what no experience is needed for.
Add a photo. A workshop listing with a real picture of the room and the work fills far faster than one without.
Fill the room without advertising
Your e-mail list first, then local channels: libraries, community centres, a poster in the café that already sells your postcards. Local workshops sell locally.
One returning participant who brings a friend is worth more than any advertisement.
Students become collectors
Someone who has spent an afternoon trying to do what you do understands the value of what you make. Many artists find that a substantial share of their sales eventually come from former students.
Hang work in the room where you teach. Do not sell it; just let it be there.
In het kort
One well-priced session with a concrete outcome, a real photo, a payment link at the moment of deciding, and your own work quietly on the wall.
