Louisiana lines up Tracey Emin, Remedios Varo and Kippenberger
Louisiana has a habit of programming further ahead than most museums, and the current listing runs into 2028.
On the walls now: Sophie Calle, until 6 September — the French artist who has built a career out of following strangers, cataloguing a lost love and reading other people's post. Lucian Freud until 27 September, and alongside him Arthur Jafa: APEX, the image-torrent cut to music. 700 Nimes Road, Catherine Opie's portrait of Elizabeth Taylor made without ever photographing her — only her house, her jewellery, her shelves — runs until 18 October.
From 18 September comes Remedios Varo, the Spanish-Mexican painter whose towers, machines and hooded travellers sit somewhere between scientific illustration and dream. On 8 October Tracey Emin opens with A Second Life, running all the way to 18 April 2027; Louisiana describes her use of the female body as a tool for working through passion, trauma, pain and healing.
Then next year: Martin Kippenberger from February 2027, the first major international presentation of his work in almost a decade. Nalini Malani from April 2027, her first solo show in Scandinavia, built around the installation Of Woman Born first seen in Venice. And in October 2027 a large thematic exhibition simply called Sleep, mixing classical works, contemporary art, literature, film and science.
Louisiana is at Gl. Strandvej 13 in Humlebæk, about forty minutes north of Copenhagen by train. Open Tuesday to Friday 10:00–22:00, weekends 10:00–18:00, closed Mondays.
