10th Edition Brings Major Installations Across Sydney — Sydney Contemporary

Sydney Contemporary marks its 10th edition from 3–6 September 2026 at Carriageworks with an expanded installations programme curated by José Da Silva. For the first time, the fair extends beyond the venue with ambitious public art commissions supported by Destination NSW.

Reko Rennie presents geometric patterning and urban iconography exploring Aboriginal culture and identity at Sydney Fish Market (27 August–16 September). Joan Ross transforms Pier Pavilion at Barangaroo with animated works reframing Australian colonial history in her signature hi-vis yellow (27 August–7 September).

At Carriageworks, Mike Hewson creates a sculptural café installation blurring boundaries between art and architecture, while Billy Apple® projects explore artistic labour, branding and systems shaping contemporary art. These commissions sit alongside 12 large-scale works throughout the Fair.

Dates: 2026-09-03 — 2026-09-06, Sydney
