Filling in the details of a work

Materials, size, year, signed, edition and price, and why each field matters.

These fields decide two things: whether your work turns up when someone searches, and whether someone who likes it feels safe enough to buy. None of them are compulsory. All of them help.

What it is made of

  • Medium / technique — what you actually used, in plain words: *Oil on canvas*, *Linocut on Japanese paper*.
  • Year — when you finished it.
  • Condition — Excellent, Good, Fair or Poor. For new work this is Excellent and you can leave it alone. For older work, honesty here prevents an awkward conversation later.
  • Signed, Certificate of authenticity, Framed — three ticks that answer three questions buyers always ask.

Size

Width, Height and Depth in centimetres. Fill these in even if the work is flat and the depth is one centimetre. People shop with a wall in mind, and a work without measurements is a work they cannot picture.

Price

Enter the Price and pick the Currency. Leave the price empty and the work is shown without one — fine for work that is not for sale, confusing for work that is.

Sale price is optional. Fill it in and the old price appears crossed out with a quiet *Sale* label next to it.

Tick For sale for anything you are actually willing to part with.

Getting paid

Add a Payment link and a Buy button appears under the work. That link can be from Mollie, Stripe or PayPal.me — the buyer pays you directly and Online Gallery never touches the money. You keep everything minus what your payment provider charges.

If you set a payment link on your profile as well, the one on the work wins.

Editions and prints

Selling the same image in several sizes or as a numbered edition? Fill in Edition (*1/1*, *3/25*) for a single work.

For prints in several sizes there is a separate Editions / print sizes block, which comes with Premium. Each row gets its own label, size and price. When one sells, we take that one off the shelf and the rest stays available — only when the last one goes does the work move to sold.
