HEIT PERPETUUM is a title that combines Frisian and Latin. It could be translated as Eternal Father. A father who (as expressed in the accompanying poem) would always want to provide protection but must continually reinvent the art to do so. The painting from which this thought is derived is characterized by an organized chaos in which the opposition of both forms and colors as well as material usage creates a unity.
