Luminous Tree

With this piece, I wanted to create something purely abstract — no figures, no recognizable landscape — just an emotional impression, something that speaks through color and light alone. At the center is a form that feels tree-like, though I left it intentionally ambiguous. It’s made up of thick, textured brushstrokes I leaned into impasto look to give it a lot of depth and energy. I used purples and blues for the branches and trunk, but at the heart of it, there’s this soft, pale yellowish-white light. It almost feels like it’s glowing from within, radiating outward. That internal light was really the emotional core of the painting, a symbol of energy, life, maybe even a quiet resilience. The background is made up of deep, nearly black blues. I built up the texture there too, but kept it dark and quiet, so the central form would feel like it’s emerging from or pushing back against the darkness. That contrast was important to me, I wanted the light to feel subtle but powerful, something you notice only after you take in the shadows. There are no people or animals, nothing literal. It’s all about mood. This balance of mystery, darkness, and a soft sense of hope. To me, the piece is about finding a quiet strength in the middle of uncertainty, like something luminous held deep inside. I didn’t want to tell a specific story, just to create a space where someone could feel something meaningful without needing to explain it.
