Horváth Lajos transforms the classical image of Venus into a symbolic reflection on beauty, memory and human values. By bringing an iconic figure into a contemporary context, he creates a dialogue between antiquity and modern life, inviting viewers to contemplate the timeless nature of art and civilization. Lajos Horváth (1941–2019) was a Hungarian painter born in Pápa, Hungary, who lived and worked in Veszprém from 1998 until his death. He developed a distinctive symbolic visual language, combining the traditions of classical European painting with surrealism and a deeply personal mythology. From 1980 he was a member of the Hungarian Art Fund, later joining the Association of Hungarian Fine and Applied Artists and the Veszprém Artists' Guild. His works have been exhibited widely in Hungary and internationally, and are represented in both public and private collections. This artwork comes directly from the artist's estate, has documented provenance, and is included in the Horváth Lajos Digital Archive (2026). The artwork is offered on behalf of Horváth Attila, the artist's son, from the family's private collection.
