This painting was inspired by a visit of Bert to the 'Textilmusem' in Bochholt, Germany on September 24th. 2017. More than 20,000 spindles once turned at the Herding Spinning Mill. Today, the imposing brick building is a forum for textile culture, where the story of textiles, past and present, is brought to life. Special exhibitions offer insights into the technology and show off fashion design and international textile art. In close proximity to this is another site, the Weaving Mill. This space is painted by Bert after his visit to the Mill in Sptember 2017. Here you can smell the oil and hard work. In the huge weaving hall, the drive belts still set more than 30 historic machines in motion.
