Frame: black or natural wood of choice. In "The Energy of Books," Sophie Dumont transforms classic libraries into a rhythmic, colorful, and vibrant visual score. On three levels, the book spines become pure chromatic structures: fiery reds, soft pinks, deep blacks, off-whites, and ochres engage in an intense and balanced composition. Painted with a knife, the canvas reveals a rich, thick, almost sculpted material. Each "book" becomes a unit of breath and movement, a vibration of memory. A recognized contemporary French artist, Sophie Dumont regularly exhibits in France, Belgium, Germany, and Canada. Her works are part of numerous private and institutional collections.
