Valley of Greens

This is a small painting compared to most I do but it was a good trial for an upscale in size. I haven't been to this place, it doesn't exist but I kind of want to be there now when I look at it. It looks kind of like japan (never been there) or it could be wales or anywhere. I wanted a far distant background with multiple shades of green in a valley with a river and this is what came out on the canvas. I introduced a shade of red/burnt sienna which combats or compliments all the green. You can see partitioned fields, a valley village, mountains with a mist in the background, dark sky and rain but enough brightness through the clouds to throw rays onto the landscape below it.
