Planned Decay: The escalating exploitation of Earth and increasing environmental pollution have resulted in the depletion of the ozone layer's protection. This artwork aims to draw attention to the harmful effects of the elevated UV levels through a unique approach. The image is created on a 50x50 cm wooden board, where a circle is filled with the artist's own signature using a low-pigment black pen. The UV lamp illuminates the image covered with signatures. Over the course of months, the UV light continuously damages the artwork, ultimately fading it partially or entirely. The color of the pen on the image would completely disappear, leaving only the negative indentations on the surface. For the observer, it serves as an exemplary depiction of the gradual decay of the image due to the work of UV light. This illustrates the process that our Earth undergoes due to the thinning ozone layer. The relatively rapid deterioration of the image might be surprising to the viewer and could contribute to a change in perspective.
