A very large water lily painting, nearly five feet long. Paintings like this are reminiscent of Monet, but Louis paints in his own distinctive style, which features longer strokes than the shorter, dashed technique of his great predecessor. But it was Monet who inspired the artist to start painting when he was confronted with his work at the age of 17, and according to him, it was "absolute painting." Louis now paints many water lily paintings, and that, alongside other Impressionist motifs, is where his strength lies.
