A small and vulnerable figure lies swaddled on a bed on the first floor of a house that appears to be open to the elements, being depicted in a plan view like an architect`s drawing. This emphasises the exposure and vulnerability of the sleeping figure. The house, in section, appears to be built upon ground that is layered and littered with debris from the past. Maybe, on the surface, the figure appears to be in an insecure situation, but the soil beneath him, with the accretions of the past create a security based upon what has gone before - solid and slowly changing with time. Maybe change and time are the only securities we have…..
