A small figure (a faun? is it Pan?) sits looking out from the edge of a woodland at the large expanse of a lake. The towering trees and the vastness of the lake combine to accentuate the smallness of the solitary figure. Only two distant birds high in the blue sky serve as company for the lonely faun. This image is based on memories from my adolescence when, fascinated by nature, I used to visit the local woods wherein a large lake was hidden. The place induced a profound melancholy in me and will forever remind me of the loneliness of growing up and away from family. It is that liminal place between childhood and adulthood - the growing realisation of the vastness of life (= nature) before me.
