About Sylvie Lobato
Sylvie Lobato explores the relationship between image and reality, drawing on the archaic, the living, and the intimate. Her work investigates the aesthetic of skin and seeks to articulate mixed states of suffering and pleasure through material experimentation.
In her practice, Lobato works with games of materials and the appearance of drop shadows to develop a visual language. Her work engages with what she describes as digging down to the bone, exploring how shocks and resurgences move through time and shape our present.
