About Sonja Rosing
Lelystad, Netherlands
Sonja Rosing graduated from the art academy Minerva in Groningen, the Netherlands, in 1991. Since then, she has worked full-time with visual art, working across painting, drawing, photography, object-making for both indoor and outdoor settings, and video.
Rosing is a member of Arti et Amicitiae, an artists' association based in Amsterdam, and the KVF, the Artists Association Flevoland. She spends considerable time in nature, where she draws, photographs, collects materials, and walks. In 2016, she undertook the project "366 sunrises," spending 366 days outside to witness the sunrise.
Since 1991, Rosing has practiced meditation twice daily. This practice led her to explore consciousness and Eastern philosophy, which became the central theme of her visual work.
