About Pieter de Vries
Den Burg, Netherlands
The Texel Wadden photographer Pieter de Vries (1950) boards a Cessna F172M once or twice a year. From Texel airport, he flies over the mudflats. Zigzagging between the Dutch, German, and Danish Wadden Islands, he captures unique photos. Abstract images of coastal structures and patterns in the seabed, as well as more documentary photos of villages, (almost vanished) dikes, buoys, (ruins of) lighthouses, and other human influences in the often pristine Wadden landscape. His best photos are pure art. They were notably on display during Sail Amsterdam at Gallery Pien Rademakers, at Art Nocturne Knokke (B), Millionaires Fair Amsterdam, PAN Amsterdam.
