Peter H. Propstra

Peter H. Propstra was born and raised in Groningen, where he studied at Academy Minerva. He later pursued studies in German and obtained a teaching certificate.

Propstra works primarily as a draftsman, drawn to the tension of the line. His oil pastel drawings often contain minimal visible lines, with the tension emerging from the work process itself. His work is figurative, frequently depicting people sourced from photographs, each carrying an underlying story that may not be immediately apparent. Text often appears within his pieces.

He has exhibited mainly in Groningen galleries, including Forma Aktua, Pictura, and Kraayenzank. His works are held in private collections throughout Northern Europe.
