Martin Veldhuis

Martin Veldhuis works under the artist's pseudonym MARVELLI. His work falls within magical realism, presenting figurative representations of events that are hardly possible or impossible in the real world, often with an undertone of humor. Many of his paintings show a snapshot of an event whose origin and conclusion remain uncertain, inviting the viewer's imagination to complete the story.

Veldhuis paints exclusively with oil on panel. The image often interacts with the panel itself, and may extend beyond the frame through trompe l'oeil techniques, achieved by cutting the panel to the required shape.
