Marjan Mijnsbergen - van Hugten

Marjan Mijnsbergen - van Hugten was born in De Bilt, the Netherlands, and now lives in Bergen op Zoom. In 1983 she founded the artists' association Ars Peintura in Houten. After a long period away from painting, she returned to art fifteen years ago.

Since her youth, Mijnsbergen - van Hugten has been drawn to the universe, astrology, the human psyche, and natural treasures of the earth including crystals, gems, and shells. She seeks to convey her appreciation for these natural materials through her work. Her practice is not bound to a single style or medium; she works in oil paint for figurative work and portraiture, and uses acrylic, mixed media, and found or recycled materials for abstract pieces. She also creates sculptures in bronze, stone, and clay.

She studied drawing at an art academy and has participated in masterclasses, workshops, and courses with various established artists. In 2017 she became a member of NABK and began continuous painting lessons at Atelier Zonneklaarkunst. Her exhibitions include Frames & Art in Bergen op Zoom (2018, 2020), Art & Karup at Karup furniture in Bergen op Zoom (2019), an exhibition at Gallery at Sea in Knokke-Heist (2020), and a group exhibition at theatre De Maagd (2014).
