Malgorzata Jablonska

Małgorzata Jabłońska was born in 1966 in Poland. She graduated from the faculty of painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw in 1995. She is known for her textile work, transparent images, and delicate embossed sculptures and masks made from bark and fabric.

Jabłońska developed her own technique using layers of delicate fabrics—silk, nylon, and chiffon—enclosed between two glass sheets to create unpainted, transparent, and colorful works. The transparency of these pieces allows the image to shift as it is viewed and positioned in space. Her sculptural works and masks often depict human figures, frequently the artist herself, created through life-size castings using natural materials such as banana bark and silk and organza fabrics.

Her exhibitions include solo shows across Poland, among them Self-Portraits at Kuchnia Sculpture Gallery in Warsaw (1997), Hidden Dimension in Warsaw (2012), Realities at Inspiration Space in Warsaw (2013), Subtleties at RAMA Gallery in Józefów (2014), and Evolution Re-Evolution at the Centre of Art and Culture in Konin (2016). In 2018, she exhibited Imprints of Reality at the Foundry Gallery in Washington, D.C. Her work was also shown in the 2019 exhibition Imprints of Reality at Złota 44 in Warsaw.
