Karin Touw

Karin Touw was born in Rotterdam and raised in Ridderkerk. She studied at Willem de Koning Academy of Art and completed her training as a teacher in art subjects at Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences, having previously trained as a primary education teacher.

Her work draws inspiration from antiquity, the passage of time, and images and writings from earlier periods. She works in lyrical-abstract style, using layering and mixed media techniques that combine oil, acrylic, graphic work, and drawing with natural pigments.

Her work has been exhibited widely across the Netherlands and internationally. Domestic venues include the WTC Rotterdam, the Great Church Amsterdam, Laurenskerk Rotterdam, and the Town Hall Ridderkerk. International exhibitions have been held in Brussels, Beijing, Paris, and several locations in Italy, including Palazzo Ducale Gubbio. She has also participated in art fairs in cities including Amsterdam, Berlin, Antwerp, Brussels, Cologne, Frankfurt, Rome, and Paris.
