About Janny Pieck-Plantinga

Janny Pieck-Plantinga was born in 1956 in Gorredijk, Netherlands. She is a master graduate of the Classical Academy of Visual Arts and lives and works in Friesland. Her work is held in private collections, and she has exhibited in both group and solo shows nationally and internationally.
In her practice, Pieck-Plantinga works across portraiture, landscape, and still life. She explores how reality, personal experience, and fantasy merge to create images that invite reflection. In her series Ode to Nature, she investigates organic forms and the growth processes of plants and flowers, as well as the emotional undercurrents of natural landscapes.
Her paintings are built from multiple layers, with each work translating emotion through color and form. She works toward making the invisible visible, finding wonder in what appears simple on the surface.
