Jak Beemsterboer

Jak Beemsterboer lives in Alkmaar and studied at the Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam, where he followed study directions in audiovisual work, graphic design, and interior architecture before graduating with an individual package. Since then, he has focused mainly on making collages and paintings.

His work centers on portraiture, landscape, and still life. People are always at the heart of his practice, even when they are not immediately visible in the work itself. The figures that appear in his collages are ambiguous and often embody both masculine and feminine qualities, presenting themselves as simultaneously attractive and repulsive.
