About Iris Creutzburg
Nieuwegein, Netherlands
Iris Creutzburg was born in Hollandia, former New Guinea. She studied at the Utrecht Academy of Fine Arts Artibus and works in a figurative realistic style, known particularly for paintings of mystical women rendered in primary colors.
Her first exhibition opened in 1979. In 1995, she established her studio in a historic building on Kerkstraat in Nieuwegein. A retrospective exhibition in 2004 marked her twenty-fifth anniversary as a painter, presenting more than three hundred works.
Her paintings often feature spiritual female figures in relationship with religion and animals, including bulls, horses, and exotic species. In her work, women appear both in higher spheres and in earthly settings, with their emotions conveyed through composition and bright color.
