Hubert Tytgat

Hubert Tytgat was born and raised in Brussels, Belgium. Though largely self-taught, he studied drawing at St-Lucas academy in Brussels. He worked quietly for many years before exhibiting, eventually participating in group shows in Bruges and Grimbergen, where his work was well received and largely sold.

Color has been central to his practice, influenced by the Fauvist movement and painters including Bonnard and Derain. In recent years he has experimented with acrylic markers.
