Hélène Yousse

Hélène Yousse creates her art out of necessity, without concessions. This necessity draws its energy from urgency—the need to say directly what must be said. Through the manipulation of matter, she addresses what would otherwise remain: loneliness, craziness, and death.

Her figures are collapsed inward, present yet speaking of absence, emptiness, and farewell. They carry the memory of a beloved person and his gentleness. Hélène lives with her figures, speaks with them, touches and caresses them. They are alive.
