Haykuhi Khachatryan

Haykuhi Khachatryan is a contemporary impressionistic painter living and working in Dilijan, Armenia. Her interest in painting began in childhood, inspired by the landscapes and natural forms of Armenia. Over time, she studied the techniques of established Armenian artists and explored art literature, experimenting with various styles and mediums before being drawn to impressionism and the work of painters including van Gogh, Monet, Manet, Sisley, Pissarro, Gauguin, Renoir, and Cézanne.

Visits to major museums including the Musée d'Orsay, the Louvre, the Tretyakov Gallery, and the Van Gogh Museum shaped her artistic thinking. She now works primarily in oil on canvas, using a palette knife, drawn to the richness and natural quality of oil color as a vehicle for her understanding of color theory, rhythm, and composition. Her creative process sometimes begins with impressions from new places that she later translates to canvas, and sometimes with images that exist only in her mind.

Her work is held in private collections across the United States, Canada, Mexico, Austria, Spain, Sweden, Italy, Bulgaria, France, Russia, Australia, Bahrain, and elsewhere. She has participated in workshops at KKV in Sweden and holds a certificate from the Luxembourg art prize. Her paintings have been shown in group and solo exhibitions in Armenia and Europe.
