About Hanneke Romeijn
Zeist, Netherlands
Hanneke Romeijn was born in 1951 in Overschie and attended primary school and the Montessori Lyceum there. As a hobby, she enjoyed drawing and riding Icelandic horses in Voorthuizen.
She moved to Utrecht in 1968 to train as a nurse at the former AZU. She has worked in this profession for over thirty years. She married her current husband in 1974, and they have two sons and two grandsons.
Drawing and painting run in Hanneke's family. Her grandfather enjoyed drawing along the edges of newspapers, and his youngest brother was the designer of the logo for, among others, the Gouda candles and the Zwaluw matches.
Hanneke took drawing lessons at the Werkschuit in Zeist and attended classes with artist Ad van der Lugt. With him, she learned everything about combining colors.
In 2005, Hanneke went her own way and surrendered herself to fantasy, color, and reality. Cows, horses, donkeys, sheep, and pigs are her favorite animals. She does not shy away from other subjects either. She also enjoys painting on commission. Everything happens in consultation with the client.
The holidays in the provinces of Groningen and Friesland provide a lot of inspiration. She has now met wonderful people who work with old Dutch breeds. Lakenvelders, Groninger Blaarkoppen, Belted Galloways, Red-pied Frisian cows. At Kroon Vlees in Groningen, several works hang, and the delivery van is decorated with a Groninger Blaarkop from my hand.
In the magazine de Lakenvelder, there has been an article about her, and in the book de Lakenvelder, a painting of hers is depicted.
Most of her canvases have been sold to private individuals.
Exhibitions she has had:
-Restaurant 't Regthuys in Maarn [three times]; Museum Oud Overschie; Woon-en Zorgcentrum de Amandelhof in Zeist; Dag der Kunsten in Zeist; Stadslandgoed de Kemphaan in Almere [twice]; Kunstmarkt in de Bilt; Verzorgingshuis in Oegstgeest; Diakonessenhuis in Zeist; Kapsalon Kruizinga in Utrecht; Hospice in Zeist; Zorghotel Bovenwegen in Zeist.
Furthermore, she participated in the Painting of the Year in 2019. In the catalog, her paintings are on pages 70 and 71.
She paints with joy and passion; her paintings are colorful. Hanneke wants to recoup her costs for paint, canvas, and frame and see a smile on the faces of her buyers! Visit her website and experience her sense of color.
