Geertje Geertsma

Geertje Geertsma studied Fine Arts at Minerva Art Academy in Groningen, graduating in 2015. In her visual work, she explores the correspondences in form and properties between different kinds of existence, seeking to bridge their differences. This investigation draws her into a world that is simultaneously anthropomorphic, zoomorphic, herbamorphic, and fungimorphic—one where hierarchy and separation become strange concepts. Her work contains elements of doubt, mystery, and fairy tale, sometimes expressed through specific forms such as animal fur on human skin, and sometimes as darker, more sensual sensations.
