Erik Tierolf
About Erik Tierolf
Erik Tierolf graduated from the AKI Art & Design Enschede ArtEZ in Enschede in 1987. Since 1991 he has been making realistic works in oil on canvas, creating worlds that blend reality and fantasy with imagined improbabilities. He has lived and worked in Bergen, Noord-Holland since 1997, and is a member of the Dutch Association of Marine Painters.
Tierolf works across a range of scales, from small paintings to monumental pieces. His subjects include motors, cars, and industrial heritage, often composed with meticulous attention to detail. His paintings typically present realistic scenes in which alienated elements suggest deeper meaning beneath the surface. Water and the sea feature prominently in his work and serve as ongoing sources of inspiration.
His work has been shown in numerous solo and group exhibitions throughout the Netherlands, Germany, Spain, Denmark, France, Israel, and the United States.
