About Erik Brede
Gjerdrum, Norway
Erik Brede was born in 1971 in Svolvaer on the Lofoten Islands, Norway. He began his photography journey at age eleven when his father introduced him to film development and darkroom work. Though he now uses digital tools like Photoshop and Lightroom rather than an analogue darkroom, his creative approach remains unchanged.
As a photographer and digital artist with more than thirty years of experience, Brede's work has been exhibited and published in France, Italy, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Norway. His surreal and fine art digital photography has been sold to the television and record industries as well as private collectors worldwide. His work has been published in The Best of Photography 2014, The Best of Photography 2015, and International Contemporary Artist vol. X.
Brede's artwork explores the relationship between landscape as it exists and landscape as imagined. Working in a conceptual manner across a wide range of subjects and layered compositions, his practice engages with fundamental questions about human existence. His work is held in corporate collections, healthcare facilities, hospitality establishments, and private residences internationally.
