About Elena Gantchikova-Mathiesen / Elegantchikova
Elegantchikova — the artistic name of Elena Gantchikova-Mathiesen — is a Paris-based French synesthetic visual artist of Moscow origin. Her work unfolds at the meeting point of painting, drawing, photography, collage, assemblage and digital creation.
Her images arise from an innate synesthetic perception: colour carries resonance, light becomes rhythm, line develops like a melodic gesture, and the pictorial field is composed as an architectural space. As a composer and pianist as well as a visual artist, she does not use music to illustrate her images; sound is one of the internal sources of their visual structure. Each work develops its own pulse, chromatic harmony, density and movement.
Elegantchikova creates complex, multilayered works on a graphic tablet through a signature process of digital painting, recomposition and refinement. Her visual language is marked by luminous colour, transparency, rich detail, spatial depth and the dialogue between organic forms and constructed worlds.
Her works are not mechanically enlarged or cropped. Following her principle of Variations, each format is independently recomposed for its own proportions and architectural setting, preserving the work’s internal balance and spatial intensity.
The artworks are produced in Paris at the Dupon Laboratory in rare editions of ED 3 + 2 AP, signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The Golden Collection is printed on Hahnemühle Photo Metallic paper; other series are produced on Hahnemühle Baryta Glossy or Baryta Matte according to the visual intention of the work. Large-format paper works may be mounted on aluminium and reinforced to ensure stability and long-term presentation.
Elegantchikova’s works are conceived for collectors, private interiors, architectural spaces and contemporary art collections. Custom formats and selected alternative supports, including aluminium and acrylic, may be considered upon request.
