Elena Bandurka
Contemporary Artist | Eco-Conceptual Practice
Elena Bandurka (b. 1985) is a Ukrainian contemporary artist working at the intersection of eco-art, social commentary, installation, sculpture, and photography.
Her artistic practice explores environmental awareness, cultural memory, and the dialogue between tradition and modernity. Bandurka combines unconventional materials with symbolic narratives, drawing attention to urgent ecological questions while preserving aesthetic sensitivity and emotional depth.
She is particularly interested in the transformation of traditional Ukrainian symbols into contemporary artistic language. Her “Hyperrealistic Motanka” project reflects on identity, heritage, and collective memory.
Two sculptures from this project (December 2020) have been part of the public collection of the Kyiv History Museum since 2021.
In 2017, one of her black-and-white photographic works received recognition at Berliner Liste Special Edition during Berlin Art Week.
Bandurka’s work balances ecological consciousness with visual beauty, guided by the belief that art can communicate complex ideas in an accessible and emotionally engaging way.
She lives and works in Kharkiv, Ukraine.
