Daniel Martin

Daniel Martin, born in 1982, lives and works in Leiden, Netherlands. He creates work through the distortion and recreation of matter, subjecting his sculptural paintings to the control of chance and errors. His collage portraits incorporate found objects, cut-up paintings, and materials gathered from the street, which he layers together as incoherent brushstrokes to form new compositions.

His work explores the transmutation properties of matter, with pieces that possess no fixed form and can be perceived in different ways. He works across three main categories: portraits, landscapes, and abstractions. His densely layered compositions are characterized by color, form, and varied techniques, appearing dynamic and spontaneous while remaining balanced and carefully considered.
