CHRISTIANE GUERRY BIOGRAPHY
Born in Grenoble in 1948, Christiane Guerry – painter and sculptor – has been unfolding a vibrant universe of forms, colors, and materials for over fifty years. Nicknamed very early on "the Painter of Colors" by Mercedes Henry (Grenoble Painter) with whom she worked for 2 years, she tirelessly explores the boundaries between figuration, abstraction, and materialism. Her works, exhibited in France (since 1968) as well as internationally (Sharjah Museum in 2005, GEMLUCART Monaco in 2016/2017/2018, ) and various galleries in Germany, Denmark, and Paris, where she is permanently represented! Today, she finds herself in private collections around the world (Australia, Japan, China, Great Britain, United States, etc ...°
Always curious about new experiments, she has been developing for several years an ecological and sustainable approach, integrating textiles, papers, and reclaimed materials into her creations. Her monumental sculptures and installations made from recycled waste (wood, wool, threads, everyday objects, metals, and plastics) express a strong commitment: to transform the ephemeral into a lasting work and to work for the salvation of the planet.
Her work addresses universal themes – the thread of life, the passage of time, the fragility of natural balances – and proposes poetic works where light, matter, and gesture become bridges between art and humanity.
Numerous awards, prizes, and medals mark her journey (including the "Grand Prix de la Côte des Arts", Grand Prix "Tribute to Jean Cocteau", "Grand Prix de la Ville de Saint Laurent du Var" and the THEMA Prize in Monaco (2 works have been preempted by the Gemluc Museum in MONACO) Gold Medal of the C.I.B.A, she continues today her research around informal, timeless, and obsessive art, in permanent dialogue with nature and emotions.
Many articles in the Press recount her journey! She has had 5 Open Studios for the Public: 2 in Nice (Rue Défly and Rue Droite, 2 in Vence and 1 in Saint Paul de Vence!
Christiane Guerry lives and works between Nice and Fréjus!
She has projects for installations and collaborations with companies, communities, galleries, and Museums!
I expect a curator to propel my Art where encounters become unforgettable!
DARE, it is the heart of my artistic approach.
I explore the pain of women, abuses, silences.
Through my works, I advocate with my colors.
My art is a form of justice, a space of memory, a cry against indifference.

Despite the labels and teasing of her childhood as "wop's daughter", Christiane reveals her early talent for drawing, handling the pencil and paint from the age of six. @@@@After working two years with Mercedes Henry in Grenoble, who affectionately nicknamed her "the painter of colors", Christiane takes flight, guided by the wise advice of her mentor. From 1970, she begins to exhibit her work in France and abroad and settles in 1988 in Nice where she consolidates her artistic reputation. @@@@Throughout her career, Christiane has won numerous awards and distinctions, and has been the subject of many articles in the specialized press. Her work has been presented in numerous collective and solo exhibitions, notably at the SHARJAH Museum in 2005 and at Gemluc in Monaco, which even preempted two of her works. @@@@Her favorite artists, including Turner, Frida Kahlo, Van Gogh, and Louise Bourgeois, have greatly influenced her artistic creation. Christiane's work is inspired by her life, her visions, and her deepest emotions, which she transposes onto canvas and in her sculptures to tell a story, her own story, which she shares with her collectors. @@@@Christiane never stops creating art. She works diligently every day, whether day or night. She welcomes criticism, positive or negative, with a certain anxiety, but it is also for her an invaluable source of inspiration. @@@@Her artistic work is deeply personal, escaping all artistic currents, and draws its substance from her personal experiences. In her sculptures, she uses mixed techniques, incorporating recycled materials, to raise awareness of the need to protect our planet. @@@@Christiane's physical body is her tool for creation, dedicated to art. Her joy lies in waking up every morning to paint and sculpt, thus expressing her inexhaustible passion for artistic creation. She aspires to leave a lasting mark on the art world and describes herself in three words: informal, timeless, obsessive. @@@@Public collection at Monaco Gemluc Museum @@Private collections: Germany, Japan, Australia, USA, England, Monaco, Denmark, Poland... @@Categories @Painting @Curriculum Vitae @Experience @1968 - to date @Exhibiting artist @Sharjah Museum 2005, Gemlucart Museum 2016, Art and Miss Gallery since 2000, numerous exhibitions marked by Medals and Awards... @@@@Christiane has been exhibiting since 1968 in France and abroad. @@@@Translated with DeepL
