Barbara Aslamazi

Barbara Aslamazi creates works intended to live beyond the canvas, speaking to viewers and sharing feelings and emotions with them. Central to her practice is a character she developed called Nora, a fictional person rather than merely a drawn figure, who stands as a presence meant to support people and serve her community.

Aslamazi draws inspiration from environmental conditions, problems, circumstances, protest, love, and pride. Each new work carries its own main message, addressing topics she believes need collective discussion and reflection.
