About Ans Janssen

Ans Janssen was born in 1955 in Venlo and works in sculpture, photography, and applied art. Her sculptures bear the influence of African culture, developed through extensive travels across the continent. Rather than pursuing anatomical realism, she works to convey feeling and expression through figurative forms, drawing inspiration from cultural details such as hairstyles, face paintings, tattoos, and jewelry.
In addition to sculpture, Janssen paints, photographs, and designs functional objects for public spaces. Her work has been exhibited widely in the Netherlands, including at Gallery Bon Ton in Stiphout, Museum Het Petershuis in Gennep, Gallery De Pol in Pannerden, Gallery Tamai in Oisterwijk, and Gallery De Kleine Hoogstraat in Leeuwarden. Her work is held in the Arts4U collection in Oisterwijk.
