About An Schmelter
My name is Anneke, born in Utrecht and after some wanderings ended up in Leidschendam.
Since I was young, I have had a fascination with color, texture, and movement. In my work, I combine my love for freedom and experimentation with the techniques of acrylic pouring and mixed media.
What attracts me to acrylic pouring is the unpredictable – the interplay of paint, fluidity, and chance. Each pour is an exploration where colors meet, clash, and merge into something unique.
In my mixed media paintings, I like to add extra layers with different materials such as marble flour, sand, glitter, and pastes. This creates works that have not only visual but also tangible depth.
For me, painting is a form of meditation and expression – a way to let emotions, energy, and intuition flow onto the canvas. Each work tells its own story but also leaves space for the viewer's imagination.
Regularly, my work can be found in community centers or viewed at home through art routes.
