A. Tatar

Ayhan Tatar is a mathematics teacher based in Utrecht, Netherlands. For years, mathematics and design have been central to his work, leading him to create mathematics posters that bring these two interests together.

In recent years, Tatar has focused on geometric art, drawing from the tradition developed by craftsmen and artists who created repeated geometrical patterns in place of figurative representation in sacred spaces. He is interested in the mathematical elegance of these designs, which despite their complexity are always constructed from grids made using only a ruler and compass. Tatar combines this historical approach with contemporary techniques in his practice.
